Along a relevant subject matter to the litany of other movies emphasizing consequences of a down turned economy and scrupulous dealings, provides another option in high drama films. The movie stars Richard Gere as the company’s executive who hands power down to his daughter Britt Marling. The actress has written several previous films entailing inventive themes such as a housekeeper who explores space travel in “Another Year” and the part of a cult leader in “My Voice.” Arbitrage is the first major film that Marling has done which is written by someone else. It should serve to assuage curiosity and the sensationalism for enthusiasts of high powered finance which has deleteriously permeated the mainstream for those who go see the flick.
Cosmopolis
This film's has a well derived comedic plot about a financial mogul who in the midst of experiencing a large profit slide on a currency trade against the Chinese yen decides to takes a personal limousine crosstown for a haircut. During his commute, the New York traffic is atrocious and the situation invites opportunities for visitors to come and spend minutes of their time with the young financier played by Robert Pattison. His personal encounters include a meeting with several advisory members, an old lover, and a psyciatrist. It’s a humorous tale that traverses ironic situations in an outlandish yet probable tale.
