A few films striking personal sentiment for me based on the fact of being filmed partly in my hometown Atlanta, where the industry has made a considerable name for itself lately.

“Trouble with the Curve” which was called to my attention after hearing a few news reports about actor Justin Timberlake making appearances at nearby restaurants and clubs. His character is a minor one in the film that stars Clint Eastwood who plays a scouting agent for a major league baseball clubhouse. Along the trip, which is intended to be his last, he brings daughter, Mickey, who is played by Amy Adams("Catch Me if You Can" and "Charlie Wilson’s War"). John Goodman is a supporting part in the movie that riles a few good old actors in what seems to set up to be a heart-warming tale of past times and nostalgia.

Spike Lee’s new release “Red Hook Summer” details events of a despairing community in Red Hook, Brooklyn whose sense of belonging centers around a small church for which one of the main characters is a pastor. His grandson makes summer trips from the care of his parents in Atlanta only to be exposed to a life significantly removed from what he is used to. An unmasked secret is presented midway through the movie inciting more intrigue into a theme that questions fervent piety with economic misfortune. Despite a compelling basis for a movie, critics claim that Lee falls short of creating something more than just mediocre.
