Local Filming of 20th Century Fox Production Starring Vaughn and Owen Wilsonpic

So what is it like to experience the life of an intern at the most recognized technology company in the world? That's a question that about 99% of all would be internship applicants or job seekers disappointingly wouldn't be able to have a first hand answer for, however until now. Google, the company that was founded in 1998 by Stanford graduate students Larry Page and Sergey Brinn set out on a mission to organize the world's information. An audacious ask that would require a much larger personnel than just it's two prodigious creators. The company's staff understandably had to grow to fill the positions that would coalesce with the mission of the company became an elite selection process that would reject most of those who sought an opportunity. To be offered a position, candidates likely encountered a process of several stages of interviews where screening is based upon sterling academic and top industry work experience. A litany of puzzling questions intended to test an interviewee's creativity, brilliance and ability to adapt in challenging circumstances has long been a tactic with hiring managers at Google. Questions have included "design an evacuation plan for San Fransicso," "how many times a day does a clock's hand overlap?" and brain teasers to stimulate imgagination.

More recently, the methods of qualification have supposedly broadened away from an assessment based solely on perfection and the process has adopted a more well rounded consideration of employee. For example candidates with less than Ivy League degrees have certainly been taken on to join the company. By bringing qualities like entrepreneurial experience, uncanny networking ability, and or the highly coveted computer programming skills are useful in trying to secure a job at the world's #1 nominated place to work according to a Forbes Magazine poll.

So what make Google such a desirable place to work? Among several of it's notorious perks include project autonomy, where people are granted freedom to endeavor on their ideas unhindered by bureaucratic hoops and collaboration among team members seems ubiquitous. The office locations, also know as Googleplex is seemingly a full amenities play-land with countless computer work stations on bar tops, comfy couches, or a more traditional cubicle work space should one feel so inclined. One worker has said that an employee is never farther than 150 feet away from a food pantry which is filled with delicious energizing treats to keep the production wheel spinning.

As the headquarters are in Mountain View, CA the company also lists many other cities across the world where employees are located but the experience is intended to be the same regardless of where one's office is. One employee commented on the personal catering services provided by in house chefs that provides food quality better than what on would find at some of the best nearby restaurants in New York. Taking a break from an hours long session of coding or a slew of meetings with advertisers to unwind via a playful game of foosball or bowling are just some of the activities provided to the staff. Not to mention the companies enormous growth that has made stock options highly valuable and competitive salaries that all contributes to an annual employee turnover of less that 4% a year, the lowest of all Silicon Valley companies. So to get a sneak peak into the illustrious work culture, one doesn't have to be a nominee amongst the 100,000 of applicants that the company receives each month. No hardly, that's because scheduled for a release sometime next year 20th Century Fox Cinema has teamed up with Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson to document the story of life as a Google intern.

The film, titled simply enough, The Intern, is currently being filmed and is sure to be a comically infused account of the circumstances that these young aspiring computer-phobes go through as they occupy a summer as grunts and assistants at the world's most renowned company. Thanks to the fact that filming is occurring just a few blocks away from my home on the nearby campus of Georgia Tech in Atlanta, this website intends to provide you with some behind the scenes photos and updates on how the process in unfolding. Shooting for the movie is scheduled to occur until September 20th and so far the scenes that our staff have witnessed include a recreational game of young interns playing an outdoor game of field hockey or "Quittage" as it is known in the Harry Potter movies.
